'Selected, Contained' series

This series of 2-plate etchings stemmed from some small sketches which I completed during a stay on Dartmoor during summer 2011. The drawings were loosely based on selected piles of stones and rubble, and were the outcome of an attempt to connect what I was drawing with where I was placed physically whilst drawing it - by placing the paper on the ground whilst drawing and incorporating the textured surface. I then wanted to isolate the resulting image to create a new, unfamiliar object in its own right - transforming it into an almost sculptural form.
