INTRODUCTION TO PRINTMAKING
at West Yorkshire Print Workshop

Come and get your creativity flowing in a friendly, artistic environment!
Over 7 evenings or 3 days, this course will give you a taster of all the areas of printmaking offered at WYPW, including monoprint, collagraph, drypoint, etching, linocut and screen print. By experimenting with different techniques, you will get a feel for which best suits you and your style of working.

ETCHING
at 3 Day course: Saturday 3rd / 10th / 17th March 2012, 11am - 4pm

This course will cover all the basics of hard and soft ground etching using copper, zinc and steel plates and etching with ferric chloride and copper sulphate solutions, both less-toxic alternatives to traditional nitric acid. This is a great course for beginners and those who need a refresher. You will learn the basics of intaglio printmaking such as how to prepare, etch and print a metal plate, with a hands-on approach, as well as inking and registration techniques.

PHOTOPOLYMER AND SOLAR PLATES
at West Yorkshire Print Workshop

Photopolymer printing is a welcome alternative to complicated and sometimes hazardous print processes. Drawings, photographs and collages can be translated easily and quickly into high-quality prints. You will learn the basics of exposing and developing, and be given the tools to play with to enable you to find a way of manipulating the technique to suit your own way of working. The cost of the course includes 1 A4 size solar plate, 1 foot of photopolymer film and 2 A4 size zinc plates. This course is designed for those with some previous experience of etching, who want to experiment with new techniques.

3 day course: Friday 7th / Saturday 8th / Sunday 9th October 2011, 11am - 5pm
