About
Through my work I attempt to engage with my surroundings using a variety of media. A move to Leeds, West Yorkshire, three years ago made me aware of a radical change in landscape, shaped largely by industry, in stark contrast to the landscape which surrounded me whilst growing up. This, married with my constant draw to mass produced household objects, ornaments, and paraphernalia, results in work with a surreal quality, creating a sense of unease and apprehension, and questioning ideas of identity and belonging.
The news regularly informs us of the constant threats to humanity posed by anything from terrorism to climate change. This constant apprehension becomes part of everyday life, a nagging worry to add to the list. My current practice hints at a new threat…a world in danger of being over-run by its own productivity…by objects which sit, overlooked, as silent observers on our mantlepieces and windowsills.
In addition to exhibiting widely around West Yorkshire and beyond, I teach courses and workshops in various printmaking techniques at West Yorkshire Print Workshop. I am also available for commissions and collaborations, so do get in touch if you have something in mind.
